Introduction

Founded in January 1987, The Business Planning Group is a strategic management consulting practice which provides practical guidance to assist management, in both private industry and Government agencies, to:

  • Develop, and then achieve, organisational objectives; and

  • Generally improve operational performance.

The Business Planning Group [BPG] consists of a small group of seasoned consultants who have extensive management experience in both the business and Government sectors, and as management consultants.

The BPG consultancy approach is to provided, plain-language, 'hands-on', assistance to clients, so as to:

  • Bring about permanent improvements in the quality of management and business performance throughout their organisations;

  • Provide parctical solutions ot management challenges; and

  • Transfer management and planning skills to the client organisation.

We work with our clients to assess the factors governing the current and future activity of the business and then develop the strategies and action plans to ensure continued growth and profitability. We aim to produce results, not simply reports. That said, our written plans are comprehensive, detailed and structured so that they are readily adoptable by our business clients.

  • We summarise for agreement at every stage so that 'our plans' are, by the end of the planning process, 'your plans'.

Today, business is presented with a diversity of business improvement concepts:

  • 'change management';

  • 'business process re-engineering';

  • 'risk assessment and management';

  • 'business systems integration';

  • 'relationship marketing';

  • 'business process transformation'; and

  • 'Value Based Management' [VBM]

to name a few. Many businesses feel that these terms indicate that there could well be some potential within the management systems these terms describe which could be of benefit to their business - but because of the management time commitment implicitly involved, and the related costs, business is unable to, or wary of, taking up such business improvement programmes.

The realities are that most of these 'flavour of the month' management terms are variations, and/or a particular focus of, already well developed planning and management review procedures. The Business Planning Group has the experience and methodology to incorporate these concepts into its business improvement programmes - depending on what is the particular and immediate needs of the business.
